Why We Love The Book - What Should Danny Do?
Teaching kids about choices without a lecture? This book does it—with capes, chaos, and a whole lotta heart.

Let’s be honest—my kids don’t exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to making good choices. Sharing? Debatable. Listening to me the first time? Practically mythical. Most days, it feels like I’m running a small negotiation firm instead of a household.
So when one of my daughter’s teachers gently (bless her) recommended What Should Danny Do?, I grabbed it faster than a hidden snack in the pantry. And wow—game. changer.
The book follows Danny, a little boy who dreams of being a superhero. But instead of flying or fighting crime, his real power is something a little closer to home: the power to choose. Each page lets kids decide what Danny should do next, and the story changes based on their decisions.
It’s kind of genius. My daughter didn’t even realize she was learning about consequences—she just thought she was helping Danny “earn his cape.” And somehow, watching Danny throw a tantrum and deal with the fallout landed way better than me explaining, for the thousandth time, why yelling doesn’t help.
We’ve read it again and again, and each time my kids make new choices. Some good. Some... still very much on brand. But they’re thinking about it. They’re talking about it. And honestly? That’s a win in my book.
I’m so grateful her teacher recommended it, because it’s done more than a few parenting podcasts and Pinterest charts ever could. It’s helped spark conversations, little lightbulb moments, and even a few sibling apologies (I KNOW).
If you’re looking for a book that teaches kids about responsibility, kindness, and thinking before they act—without sounding preachy—this is it. Bright illustrations, fun superhero vibes, and solid life lessons all rolled into one.
Because being a superhero isn’t about flying—it’s about choosing better, one tiny decision at a time.
